    Triumph Spitfire Gearbox Only - Non-Overdrive Type
    WHICH MODELS WERE FITTED WITH SINGLE-RAIL TYPE GEARBOXES?
    The term 'single-rail' refers to the fact that this type of gearbox had one selector rail. Single rail gearboxes were fitted to ALL UK specification Spitfire 1500's, however, the Spitfire 1500 was introduced into the USA earlier than the UK and other European countries. This means some early USA Specification Spitfire 1500's were fitted with the 3-rail type gearbox (it is possible that some of these were re-imported into the UK).

    SCROLL OR RUBBER FRONT OIL SEAL?
    You MUST check, before ordering, to verify if the front oil seal (located in the bellhousing) is a Scroll or Rubber type oil seal.

    Single-Rail Gearbox
    Reconditioned exchange units are supplied less clutch bellhousing, speedo pinion/housing, reverse light switch, gear lever, and the 3 (small) front lower tension springs, which fit between the casing and bellhousing.
