Triumph TR7 Short Engines
Note; using a low compression short engine (or pistons) can help prolong engine life. This may be useful to UK/European customers if the cylinder head has been 'overskimmed', resulting in too high a compression ratio. SHORT ENGINE BUILD-UP
When building up a short engine to a compete assembly, check the condition of timing chain, guides, tensioner, sprockets, water pump (replace or overhaul with reconditioning kit), jackshaft, cylinder head face (for flatness), valves, guides, cam followers, camshaft etc, and replace where necessary.
We supply all these components separately if required along with gasket sets, oil seals, spigot bush, oil filter, etc.
The condition of the radiator is crucial to ensure proper and efficient cooling - either replace or have tested professionally (see Warranties), as for all the hoses and thermostat, we strongly recommend these are examined carefully, or replaced as a matter of course.
Ensure correct strength anti-freeze is used in the cooling system. Carburettors should be in good working order with mixture and balance set correctly.
New Short Engines
New* Short engines are supplied less the oil pump & jackshaft.
The warranty on new engines is that of our reconditioned units - please refer to the 'Warranties' section in our price guide.
*A reground 10/10 crank is used for both new full and short engines. These units are normally built to order.
