Triumph TR7 Propshaft and Fittings - 4 Speed & Early Auto
REAR AXLE & RATIO IDENTIFICATION
The axles & differentials listed in this section, are as originally fitted by
the factory to all 4 speed Manual and all Automatics up to VIN402000.Axles
for vehicles with 4 speed manual gearboxes are prefixed 'CG’
(diff ration 3.63:1), and automatic’s are prefixed ‘CT’ (diff ratio 3.27:1). Original factory
replacement Differential units were supplied with either ‘collapsible’ or ‘non collapsible’
type spacer. Factory specification changes were made (at axle numbers
CG51494 & CT2054) to the diff’ carrier & planet gear etc. so if you are considering
re-building your own differential, note that early components cannot be
interchanged with the later specification parts. However,
if replacing the diff’ as a complete unit, then either type ay be fitted to the axle casing.

Re-fitting the 4 speed Propshaft

'reversed', ie CB joint to the rear axle
