Although you can fit K&N sports air filters directly to SU carbs, Stub stacks give a much improved air flow. Filters for Stromberg’s do not require stub stacks.
This K&N Stubstack® fits 1-1/2" SU carburetors of type H4, HS4, HIF14, HIF38, and HIF4.
K&N Stubstacks are designed to increase the airflow of carburetors by decreasing the restriction around the choke horn. The stubstack fits inside the air cleaner housing and slides snugly down over the choke horn.
