Bench Testing
Apart from having a multitude of new parts & components fitted - and with a 12 month/12,000 Mile Warranty - our engine units are run on a test bed after assembly. During the test-run period (at varying engine speeds), all external joints are and seals are checked, and the water temperature and oil pressure are monitored to verify correct operation. After the Bench Test, the engines undergo a final inspection and are prepared for sale.
Note: All units are drained of oil/water before despatch.
Our Full Engines are assembled ready to accept manifolds, water pump and other ancillaries.
Additional installation information and running-in details are supplied with every unit. We can also supply a 'Full Engine Installation Kit' that includes all necessary gaskets/oil filter etc, enabling you to install the Full Engine in your vehicle. Alternatively, fitting can be arranged locally in Lincoln if required, at a very reasonable cost.

Important Notice: POWER ASSISTED STEERING
Identification of Front Engine Mounting Plate
If your vehicle has Power Assisted Steering, you will need to check that the Front Engine Mounting Plate on the Engine unit supplied has the appropriate mounting bracket for the P.A.S. Pump, if not, it will be necessary to re-fit the mounting plate from your old unit. NB; this note also applies to vehicles with manual steering where the front engine plate differs from the one fitted to the engine we have supplied. (The engine mounting plate fits behind the timing cover).
We can supply the necessary gaskets if required to facilitate removal & refitting of the engine plate.

Full Engine Build-up
When building up a Full Engine to a complete assembly, check the condition of your old water pump, if unsure, replace it. The condition of the radiator is crucial to ensure proper and efficient cooling - either replace or have tested professionally (see Warranties), as are all the hoses and thermostat, we strongly recommend these are examined carefully, or replaced as a matter of course. Engine mountings, clutch etc, should also be inspected and renewed where necessary. Ensure correct strength anti-freeze is used in the cooling system. Carburettors should be in good working order with mixture & balance set correctly. Please familiarise yourself with the running-in and head re-torquing instructions on the card supplied with every engine unit. If this card has become separated from the engine when you take delivery, please contact us.

Short Engine Build-Up
When building up a short engine to a complete assembly, check the condition of timing chain, tensioner, sprockets, water pump, camshaft, cylinder head face (for flatness), valves, guides, cam followers, camshaft etc, and replace where necessary. We supply all these components separately if required along with gasket sets, oil seals, spigot bush, oil filter etc. The condition of the radiator is crucial to ensure proper and efficient cooling - either replace or have tested professionally (see Warranties), as are all the hoses and thermostat, we strongly recommend these are examined carefully, or replaced as a matter of course. Short Engine and Cylinder Block Identification
Recessed or Non-Recessed Cylinder Bores?
LATE engines have a Recessed Lip at the top of the cylinder bores adjacent to the block face,
necessitating a particular type of head gasket, which can be identified by a 'Tag' which stands proud at the rear of the block.
EARLY engines have Non-Recessed bores, and do not have a tag on the head gasket.
