Model & Exhaust Identification
The exhaust system for the Triumph Stag remained the same during its entire production life, apart from the Front Exhaust Downpipes (depending on which type of gearbox was fitted), and the Bore of the Integral rear tailpipe finishers - Mk1 Stags had large bore finishers, whereas the Later Mk2 models used a smaller bore. It is important that you identify the type of Gearbox fitted to your vehicle (to determine downpipe type) - BEFORE ordering, by checking the vehicle commission number and visually identifying the transmission type fitted, it may have been changed! Note: You can fit Large or Small bore tailpipes to any vehicle, it comes down to personal preference. TRANSMISSION VARIATIONS Manual Gearbox Models (1970 to 1973 - to LD21230) A type overdrive & All NON-Overdrive. How to Identify - Overdrive unit has bolt-on solenoid & a brass sump plug. (1973 onwards - from LD21231) J type overdrive. How to Identify - Overdrive unit has Finned sump with screw-on solenoid. Automatic Gearbox Models (1970 to 1976 - to LD41993) Borg-Warner gearbox type 35. How to Identify - Output drive is Splined. (1976 onwards - from LD41994) Borg-Warner gearbox type 65. How to Identify - Output drive is Flanged.

We supply Stainless Steel Tubular manifolds for both Triumph V8 and Rover V8 applications. Our manifolds are supplied as a pair - complete with with gaskets & short downpipes that connect to special *Link Pipes (supplied separately, see listings) which connect to the standard centre silencers. *Note; Link pipes differ depending on type of gearbox fitted. Important - Rover V8 applications - When fitting tubular manifolds to a Stag with a Rover V8 engine, you MUST fit our Alternator Re-Locating Kit (RS1443), see listings for full kit details.

Manifold Insulation Wrap
Tubular manifolds by design produce a vast of amount of heat in the engine compartment. This increases the possibility of electrical/ignition components not working effectively and promotes a higher risk of fire (if any combustible material comes in to contact with the manifold), not to mention the likelihood of severe burns when working on the engine! By wrapping your tubular manifold with Thermo-Tec insulating wrap you can overcome all these risk factors. Thermo-Tec keeps the heat within the exhaust manifold so the exhaust gases have a much higher velocity, this induces negative pressure (scavenging) which increases air intake flow, resulting in better performance & economy. Technical Notes: Thermo-Tec heat wrap - which is race & rally proven - comes in rolls 2" wide x 50ft long and moulds to the contours of the manifold. Being a Silica based fabric (it does not contain asbestos or carcinogens) it is unaffected by oil or water, withstands temperatures up to 1000 degrees Celsius and reduces under bonnet temperatures by up to 70%. Snap-Strap retaining kit We strongly recommend that you use Snap-Straps to retain the insulation wrap. These are Stainless Steel straps with a narrow profile (for tight spots) that you cut to length and fasten with 'snap' type heads.
