Uprated pads and shoes fit directly into standard calipers and drums. The greater pad area and harder linings reduce brake fade and provide more efficient braking.

Just like the extremely rare factory optional Al-Fin brake drums, these reproduction finned drums not only look good but substantially reduce brake fade on hard driven TRs. They feature strong finned aluminium alloy shells with iron inserts.

The problem of spongy feeling brakes may well be caused by old hoses, which, having lost their strength, begin to expand under pressure. To stop it, simply replace the hoses with braided equivalents. The steel braiding constricts the hose and stops expansion forcing fluid all the way down into the calipers and cylinders giving a firmer pedal. The same theory also applies to the clutch hose which is also worth replacing. The braided hoses look good too!

Remember to change or even improve the fluid. DOT 3 fluids should be replaced every two years.
An alternative, specially if you are replacing calipers and cylinders, is to flush out the pipes and install silicone fluid. Silicone fluid is non-hygroscopic so it does not lead to rust problems in the lines, calipers or cylinders. The bonus is - it won't damage paintwork!
We have heard many complaints that the brakes become spongy after silicone fluid has been used. This may be due to a reaction with traditional fluids which causes seals to harden and fail. So make sure that all traces of old fluid are carefully removed. Once the silicone fluid is in use it will provide years of trouble free braking ending the monotonous and expensive pastime of repairing or replacing worn or leaking brake components.
