NOTE: The silencer fitted to cars bound for Germany and the Netherlands after commission no. CR2290 was essentially the same as the standard GEX3391 silencer, but with the addition of restrictor tubes in the two outlet tail pipes to reduce exhaust noise (these tubes had a habit of falling out if the sides of the outlet pipes were knocked!). The GEX3391 silencer may be used on any vehicle.

Exhaust Manifold (Sports)

The Rimmer Brothers stainless steel tubular extractor manifolds are designed to improve exhaust efficiency. They allow the engine to rev more freely and improve bhp. We offer two designs with different pipework configurations. See also Sports Exhaust Systems.

Sports Manifolds (RR1154SS)

Insulating Heat Wrap Tubular manifolds by design produce a vast amount of heat in the engine compartment. This increases the possibility of electrical/ ignition components not working effectively and promotes a higher risk of fire (if any combustible material comes in to contact with the manifold), not to mention the likelihood of severe burns when working on the engine! By wrapping your tubular manifold with Thermo-Tec insulating wrap you can overcome all these risk factors. Thermo-Tec keeps the heat within the manifold so the exhaust gases have a much higher velocity, this induces negative pressure (scavenging) which increases air intake flow, resulting in better performance & economy. Technical Notes:
Thermo-Tec heat wrap - which is race & rally proven - comes in rolls 2" wide x 50ft long (1 roll is sufficient for Spitfires) and moulds to the contours of the manifold. Being a Silica based fabric (it does not contain asbestos or carcinogens) it is unaffected by oil or water, withstands temperatures up to 1000 degrees celsius and reduces under bonnet temperatures by up to 70%.
Snap-Strap Retaining Kit
We strongly recommend that you use Snap-Straps to retain the insulation. These are Stainless Steel straps with a narrow profile (for tight spots) that you cut to length and fasten with snap type heads. Alternatively you can skin your knuckles and use hose clips!

Exhaust System (Sports)

Stainless Steel
We offer two arrangements of stainless steel sports exhaust system - either a twin rear box system coupling to the standard manifold or one of two tubular manifolds - or a single pipe / single rear box big bore race type system coupling to a special tubular manifold.

Twin Rear Silencer Sports Systems
These systems use twin stainless steel rear silencers (exiting equi-distant from the centre rear of the car) and twin pipework coupling to either the standard manifold or one of two tubular manifolds depending on the system purchased.

Single Rear Silencer Sports System
This system uses a specially developed stainless steel tubular extractor manifold (designed as 3 sets of 2 pipes into 1, then 3 into 1) which couples to a large bore single pipe system exiting at a race type silencer with an upswept and slash cut tailpipe (slightly off-centre at the rear of the car). All components made from top quality 304 stainless steel.
