The spindle is made to the correct hardness specification and all components are machined to exacting tolerances. The impeller has a ceramic surface insert and the pump is assembled using an upgraded water seal. Over 2000 pumps sold in the last 15 years.
Please refer to the Inspection Procedure and Fitting Instructions sheet supplied with the pump, prior to installation and always refer to a workshop manual to ensure that the correct pump cover and shimming tolerances are adhered to.
The bush in the engine block (145022) should also be changed.

If the cover fouls the inlet manifold it can be due to the cylinder heads being skimmed which lowers the inlet manifold reducing clearance. This is not a fault of the water pump cover. There is excess material in the cover that can be carefully removed to allow clearance as required.

Product Description

Triumph Stag Water Pump and Fittings
If unsure as to the type of water pump fitted to your vehicle, the pump cover will have to be removed to check the number of vanes on the impellor (note; water pumps & covers can not be interchanged between 6 & 12 types).

A water pump extraction tool (part no. RB7009 or RB7009PRO), is usually required to extract the pump from the cylinder block (or improvise!). If the pump is difficult to remove, it may leave the brass cage in the cylinder block, this may be carefully prised out. The pump spindle bush (part no. 145022), which is located in the cylinder block should be replaced as a matter of course.

I purchased this water pump for my 1976 Dolomite Sprint in Australia and am very happy with it. It looks to bd manufactured to OE Specs and I am certain it will work perfectly.

The job was to remove a TR7 water pump. Without the tool it would have been impossible. I already had a slide hammer so once I figured out how to connect it to the tool we could proceed. The pump fought hard but eventually the tool and slide hammer won the battle and it came out.
