'HS2' (1 1/4") Carburettors

SU Carburettors Overhaul & Identification It is quite straightforward (with the help of a workshop manual) to service and overhaul your carburettors using the service items listed in this section. Both fuel economy and performance can suffer through lack of carb maintenance and with the tightening of the MOT regulations regarding 'Exhaust Emissions', it is important that they are maintained in good working order. Incorrectly adjusted or worn carbs can also cause premature engine wear because fuel that remains in the cylinders causes 'bore-wash', which eventually glazes the bores, resulting in excessive oil consumption. We can recondition your own SU carburettors, or we can supply reconditioned units - on a strict exchange basis. The listings here however are primarily for identification purposes only. They will also show if you have the correct type of carb fitted (part numbers/engine numbers are quoted to help identify original factory specification, and relate to carb's fitted when the vehicle was new and not subsequent replacements). To check, the carbs can be positively identified by a part number marked on a silver tag which is located on the float chamber. Examples: HS2 - AUD257F (Front) or AUD257R (Rear) HS4 - AUD665F (Front) or AUD665R (Rear) Note: Because we only supply exchange carb's in pairs, all our carb part numbers have the suffix PR.
